Project Senior Manager

The University of Michigan Institute for Sensory Health and Aging Research (Mi-SHARE) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Senior Manager to manage the Institute's initiatives during its initial growth phase. This role involves overseeing the strategic plan, hiring and supervising staff, and fostering collaborations to advance the Institute's goals in sensory health and wellbeing research.

Responsibilities

Overseeing growth of the Institute
Provide supervision of on-the-ground activities; ensure adherence to protocols, monitor and address timeline issues
Interface with U-M and partners to ensure smooth implementation and identify when changes need to be made
Conduct project meetings, track and analyze project progress; report on progress to Institute leadership
Provide tactical administrative and project support to faculty leaders
Prepare progress reports for partners and funders as needed
Support dialogue and education between NGOs, academia, and government offices to ensure effective and efficient policy engagement
Managing projects and programs implemented by Institute faculty
Cultivate interdisciplinary collaborations, both within and outside of the University, to help advance and enhance the work of the Institute
Cultivate cross-campus relationships and serve as a primary point of contact for faculty members leading existing projects or seeking to launch new ones
Assist leadership in conducting Institute meetings
Prepare project proposals and presentations for leadership
Center Membership
Develop and implement outreach strategies for membership recruitment, including U-M faculty, U-M scholars and trainees, collaborators, and professional staff
Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of the Institute's membership database and collection of online member profiles. Coordinate annual timeline and process for membership review and renewal
In partnership with staff, develop and deliver membership reports, highlighting member activities, demographics, and overall engagement with the Institute
Develop and oversee project budgets
Assist with internal grants as needed, including review of grant proposals and reports to leadership
If/as needed, willingness to engage in a flexible work schedule to attend early morning meetings and/or late meetings and events
Other responsibilities and/or projects as assigned

Required

Master's degree in public health, public policy, business, or other related field
Five years or more of relevant professional experience
Outstanding organizational skills and ability to effectively manage numerous projects, simultaneously and in various stages of development, with a high attention to detail
Ability to analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of job responsibilities; ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
Must have strong integrity, be highly proactive, have a high degree of problem-solving skills, be highly reliable, retain a sense of ownership and accountability for workload, be flexible and resilient, provide excellent customer service, and possess expert follow-up skills
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with and build professional relationships with all individuals at all levels; appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information
Proficient computer skills are essential, including demonstrated proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe PDFs, survey tools such as Qualtrics and Google Forms, and Zoom
Must be productive and flexible under pressure and able to meet deadlines
Must have legal authorization to work in the United States

Preferred

Knowledge of University practices, rules and regulations
Previous experience working in the field of aging/gerontology research or sensory health
