Responsibilities

Serve as the program's safety authority, advising SLS program management on safety issues, constraints, and overall risk posture

Ensure program compliance with NASA safety policies, directives, and procedural requirements

Oversee the identification, evaluation, and mitigation of program safety risks

Review, assess, and concur on risk acceptance analyses and associated safety documentation

Participate in and support program control boards, readiness reviews, configuration management boards, and milestone decision meetings

Coordinate with engineering, mission assurance, and program stakeholders to integrate safety considerations into program planning and execution

Provide safety-related input to leadership to support program decisions and mission readiness

Other duties as assigned

This position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information

Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering

Must have 20+ years of recent and related work experience

Experience supporting aerospace, government, or NASA-related programs

Strong knowledge of system safety, risk management, and safety governance processes

Ability to interface effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional technical teams

Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS

Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers

Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives

Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time)

Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical
