Responsibilities

Source and evaluate potential suppliers based on capability, cost, quality, and lead time, ensuring alignment with New Product Development and Sales Team goals

Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to understand material requirements, specifications, and project timelines for new products

Assertively negotiate with suppliers, applying thoughtful pushback on cost, lead time, and specifications to achieve best outcomes aligned with company goals

Develop and maintain the Approved Vendor List (AVL) and supplier qualification documentation

Coordinate material procurement for prototypes and samples

Drive cost reduction and value engineering initiatives for new product designs

Work with quality teams to resolve material issues, support supplier audits, and ensure compliance with standards and regulations

Track New Product Development sourcing milestones and provide regular updates to project stakeholders and management

Identify and drive process improvement opportunities to streamline material flow, reduce waste, improve overall efficiency of material management processes and support ad-hoc projects as required

Deliver commitments on time and as needed

Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and company policies related to material procurement, handling and disposal

Work closely with other departments such as production, engineering, and finance to align sourcing practices with organizational goals

Required

3+ years of relevant experience

2–5 years of sourcing, procurement, or supply chain experience, ideally within a manufacturing or product development environment

Strong understanding of materials, components, and supplier manufacturing processes

Demonstrated problem solving, time-management, negotiation, interpersonal, decision making, organization, and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, maintain accurate records, deliver results under pressure, work independently, and take ownership of assigned tasks

Detail oriented with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, solve complex problems and resolve vendor issues

Ability to identify and resolve material-related issues that may arise

A strong sense of urgency
