Commercial Loan Assistant

Synergy Bank is seeking a Commercial Loan Assistant to support the Loan Officer by handling various administrative tasks related to loan processing. The role involves maintaining customer service standards, preparing loan documents, and ensuring timely communication with internal and external parties throughout the loan closing process.

Responsibilities

Provides the Synergy Bank standard of excellence in customer service
Maintains honesty and the highest level of ethical standards
Emulates Synergy Star Standards of Performance (Service, Teamwork, Accountable, and Respect)
Prepares and distributes loan reports to the Loan Officer
Inputs loan applications into Laser Pro
Utilizes the loan checklist to properly track the status of the loan
Communicates internally with the credit department, loan processing and loan operations, as well as various external vendors involved in the loan process to ensure a timely and complete loan closing. External vendors may include attorneys or title companies, appraisal companies, insurance companies, survey companies or flood certification companies
Assigns the loan to the Loan Processor for document printing
Prepares loan packages for closing by ensuring that all approvals, credit memos, and insurance are in place prior to closing while ensuring all loan documents are accurate and in order
Prepares tickets, distributes loan proceeds, closes the loan folder according to established procedures, and submits it to the loan department for booking and final review
Processes denied loan packages and loan renewals withing established regulatory timeframe
Assists with day-to-day functions of the branch inclusive of, but not limited to, answering phones, aiding customers, serving in a dual control role
May serve as the administrator of the Tuition Loan Program
Aids others as necessary or as directed by Management

Required

High school diploma or equivalent
6 months previous customer service experience
Previous experience processing loan applications or similar loan function
Proficient in Microsoft Word and basic understanding of Microsoft Excel
Ability to pay close attention to detail
Ability to comprehend and analyze information in order to draw a conclusion
Ability to maintain composure, suppress extreme emotions, control anger, and avoid aggressive behavior even in trying situations
Ability to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships to relate with co-workers, customers, and peers
Must always be looking for a way to help others
Must be aware of the actions and reactions of others and respond appropriately
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
Must possess strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize daily tasks
Ability to present a business professional appearance
Must have reliable transportation to commute to and from work
Must be able to work at a computer station in front of a monitor for up to 4 hours at a time without the opportunity for a break
Must be able to interact with the public utilizing various methods of communication
Employee may be required to squat and remain in that position for short periods of time while searching for and/or reaching for files at ground level
Must be able to lift and carry approximately 15-20 pounds multiple times throughout the day
Must have the attention span to stay alert and attentive during a normal 8-hour workday
The Loan Assistant must be able to make sound, quick decisions based on the facts of a situation, and remain calm and in control in a possible ever-changing environment or an emergency
Must be able to follow instructions and procedures exactly as trained or directed by his or her supervisor
Must be able to listen to, grasp, and respond positively to supervision and instructions by Management
Physical and cognitive ability to perform the essential functions of his/her job

Preferred

Knowledge of NuPoint and LaserPro
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience with Loan Administration
