The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is seeking a Special Event Assistant to provide onsite coordination for the Parks Playhouse Jr. event series. The role involves setting up event spaces, monitoring events for safety, and engaging with attendees to ensure a successful experience.

Responsibilities

Assist with the set up and breakdown of event spaces and equipment including tables, chairs, tents, signage, etc

Assist with loading and unloading vehicles for events

Monitor events on-site, including all event activities, ensuring safety and success of the event

Engage with event attendees and provide friendly, helpful customer service

Help maintain our special events inventory and warehouse located in Gaithersburg, MD

Provide support to Parks Activation staff

Perform related tasks as required

Required

Must possess a valid Maryland driver's license

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Stand for at least two hours at a time

Walk at least a half a mile up and down moderate hills without difficulty

Tolerance for working in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, humidity, and cold

Preferred

Experience facilitating and leading special events and programs

Experience with special events equipment

Experience with and knowledge of coordinating special events

Previous customer service experience

Experience driving large vehicles (pick-up truck and/or box truck)

Bilingual/Multilingual a plus
