Chemical Process Engineer

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes to improve efficiency, safety, and product quality
Conduct process simulations, heat and material balance calculations, and scale-up activities from lab/pilot to production
Prepare and review P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and other technical documentation
Monitor and analyze process performance, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, yield improvement, and waste minimization
Troubleshoot production issues and provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams
Lead or participate in hazard and operability studies (HAZOP), risk assessments, and safety reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards
Collaborate with R&D, operations, and project teams to implement new technologies and process improvements
Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure alignment with industry best practices
Provide training and mentorship to plant personnel on process engineering fundamentals and safe work practices
Support capital projects by defining process requirements, evaluating vendor proposals, and overseeing commissioning/start-up activities
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other applicable standards
Track and report process KPIs to management, recommending strategies for continuous improvement

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering and 5+ years of process engineering experience
Proficiency with Allen Bradley Studio 5000 required
Proficiency in Factory Talk required
Proficiency with Scada Software required
Proficiency with AutoCAD required

Preferred

Background in specialty chemicals strongly preferred
Experience within the oil & gas sector a plus
Microsoft and SQL Server experience preferred
