The Nursery Production intern will work hands-on with the growing team to learn about growing methods, focusing on container production and scheduling production in both the nursery and greenhouse.

Responsibilities

Cultural Practices- Conduct a wide variety of growing duties including pruning, spacing, weeding, irrigation, fertilization, etc

Planting annuals, woody and herbaceous perennial stock into containers. Prepare, plant and transport product to growing fields. Plant trees and evergreens in the field

Shipping- assemble and load orders of containers and/or perennial stock for retail and/or wholesale sales

Field Harvest- Harvest and package field grown nursery stock in B&B, bare-root, or gro-bags

Production Planning/Inventory-assist with a wide variety of inventory duties in container and field production

Other duties- there may be a wide variety of other production or support duties that are required on an occasional basis

Attend weekly grower meetings to learn and discuss plant health/ production

Operate a variety of nursery equipment in the performance of above duties
