Labcorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join their Extractions team. The role involves extracting DNA from various sample types for molecular genetics testing and requires participation in ongoing process improvement efforts within the lab.

Responsibilities

Receive patient samples into the lab for extractions

Perform automated and manual DNA extractions from patient samples

Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality

Maintain internal documentation for all steps of the processes as outlined in SOPs

Troubleshoot assays and reagent qualification issues

Contribute to ongoing process improvement efforts

Coordinate work assignments and be able to prioritize independently

Participate in a team approach to workflow management of the lab

Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures

Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary

Assist with processing of specimens when needed

Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Required

Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Bachelor's degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements

Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus

High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills

Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen

Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Preferred

Prior experience performing molecular techniques, such as DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing, NGS, genotyping is highly desired

ASCP or AMT certification is preferred

Previous molecular biology lab experience highly preferred
