Business Administration and Marketing Instructor (Full-Time, Tenure-Track) Fresno City College

SCCCD International Education is seeking a Business Administration and Marketing Instructor for Fresno City College, a Hispanic-Serving Institution committed to equity and student success. The role involves providing instruction in various business administration courses, engaging in professional development, and collaborating with the community to enhance student learning and opportunities.

Higher Education

Responsibilities

Teaching a full schedule of developmental and transfer level business administration courses which may include introductory to advanced business administration, business communication, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, personal finance and investing, human resource management, marketing, and supervisory/management as assigned
Advancing student learning through effective, dedicated, and exemplary instruction according to approved course outlines for courses in the Business Administration department
Engaging in appropriate professional development activities
Developing and maintaining communications with representatives of the business community
Maintaining current knowledge in business and business education for effective teaching
Developing a network of local and regional area business communities
Developing opportunities for obtaining student internships and jobs through the building of advisory groups and meeting with relevant professional organizations outside the college
Assisting with the selection, development, and assessment of adjunct faculty
Maintaining professional conduct and ethics
Participating in general faculty functions related to educational programs, in-service programs, college governance, and professional development
Planning, organizing and independently carrying out instructional and non-instructional assignments
Coordinating the development of courses for delivery via distance education
Performing other teaching related duties that include, but are not limited to preparing syllabi and maintaining office hours for academic advising and for conferring with students about course work
Engaging in public service related to one’s professional status and/or expertise
Engaging in professional or scholarly activities related to one’s discipline or teaching
Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed
Participating in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment to improve student learning
Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, on-line or off-campus, and large group instruction classes as needed, may include off-campus instruction at local high schools for dual enrollment
Otherwise fulfilling all of the duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122

Required

Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom
Master's in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing or business education; or
Bachelor's in any of the above; and Master's in economics, personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.); or
A valid California Community College Credential; or
The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency)

Preferred

Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility
Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes
Willingness to examine and remediate one's instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students
Related work and professional experience
Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, students with disabilities
Demonstrated ability to work with computers, and other technologies, which are utilized in providing high-quality instruction and support to students
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff
Effective written and verbal communications skills in the classroom and with other professionals
Effective presentation and group facilitation skills
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, colleagues, staff, and administrators
Knowledge of and ability to integrate relevant computer technology into the classroom curriculum
Work experience and/or higher education teaching experience in business
Professional experience in the business field (accounting, finance, management, entrepreneurship, etc.) with at least two years in a supervisory/management position
Knowledge of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs), social media, etc
Demonstrated interest and experience teaching in non-traditional instructional approaches and modes, including experiential learning, competency-based learning, project-based learning, online learning, multi-media systems, and hybrid delivery
Extensive experience building and maintaining community and/or industry partnerships
Experience in building new academic programs, including curriculum development that meets the changing needs of employers and the business world
Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching and professional development
Demonstrated ability to impart excitement, enthusiasm, and engender student success
Thorough understanding and use of current technology in the areas of small business management, entrepreneurship, marketing, operations, social media, and mobile technology
Ability to offer curriculum and instruction activities through distance education delivery modes as appropriate
Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals
