Responsibilities
Perform legal and administrative duties using legal terminology, procedures, and documents
Researching legal issues
Drafting motions and orders
Maintaining electronic case files and databases
Support the assistant federal public defenders by performing duties that include assisting with case file management
Gathering, organizing, summarizing, and indexing of electronic and paper documents and other discovery materials
Assist attorneys at hearings and trials
With client contact
With expert and witness interviews
With litigation support services using advanced software programs
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Working knowledge of law office operations
Understanding of legal practices, methods and techniques
Understanding of criminal law, procedure, and evidence
Ability to perform legal and administrative duties using legal terminology, procedures, and documents
Experience in researching legal issues
Experience in drafting motions and orders
Experience in maintaining electronic case files and databases
Ability to assist with case file management
Ability to gather, organize, summarize, and index electronic and paper documents and other discovery materials
Ability to assist attorneys at hearings and trials
Ability to conduct client contact
Ability to assist with expert and witness interviews
Ability to provide litigation support services using advanced software programs
Satisfactory background investigation, including but not limited to an FBI name and fingerprint check
Preferred
Prior federal court litigation experience
