The Senior Laboratory Technologist will perform specialized laboratory tests, ensure compliance with standards, and mentor junior staff while contributing to the development of new procedures.

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of specialized / complex laboratory tests and analyses under minimal supervision by applying standard techniques and analytical principles
Assists with daily quality control checks and ensure laboratory work compliance with set standards
Assists in troubleshooting and preventive maintenance
Oversees and performs mentoring, training, and onboarding of previous level employees
May participate in the interview and hiring process for prospective staff for the lab practice as requested by management
Contributes to the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and SOPs
Participates in laboratory coordination/management functions to assist supervisor
Oversees Lab supplies inventory and assists to place order as needed
Oversees waste management process and ensures compliance with regulations
Maintains appropriate files and records on assigned laboratory work projects, and prepares periodic reports as required

Required

Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science or Medical Technology
Academic degree in Medical Technology
NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required
Knowledge of Federal (CLIA) and NYS Regulatory requirements
Familiarity with automated laboratory equipment
Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook
Computer literacy and experience with Laboratory Information Systems
Strong analytical judgement and problem-solving skills
Mathematic and measurement skills
Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team environment
Highly proficient in training and mentoring

Preferred

Three (3) years' experience as a Lab Technologist with supervisory role experience preferred
Bilingual (English and Chinese) preferred
