Confidential Advocate
Portland State University is Oregon’s most affordable public research university, located in the heart of one of America’s most dynamic cities. They are seeking a Confidential Advocate to provide trauma-informed support for students who have experienced gender-based violence. The role involves offering advocacy services, collaborating with campus and community partners, and educating the campus community about responses to interpersonal violence.

Responsibilities
Provides confidential and legally privileged advocacy services (including safety planning, academic and housing accommodations, financial aid, accompaniment throughout reporting processes, emotional support, and other referral/resource) directly to students in the University community who have experienced gender-based violence: relationship violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment, or stalking
Collaborates with campus and community partners to formulate strategies that best serve the survivor and the community
Works closely with the Confidential Advocacy Coordinator in supporting campus change by providing direct advocacy services & training for PSU students, faculty, and staff
Educates the campus community about the integral role that each of us have in ending interpersonal violence and providing survivor centered responses to disclosures of violence
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree
2 years' experience at full time equivalency, working directly with survivors of interpersonal/gender-based violence, providing trauma informed care & working with underserved & marginalized communities or in a counseling related field
Possess, or be willing to obtain within the first three months of being hired, the required state-level certifications for campus advocacy
Demonstrated understanding of current best practices in responding to interpersonal trauma
Must successfully pass a background check
Preferred
Bachelors degree and 3 years related experience OR Masters degree and 1 year related experience
