Quantum Research Scientist Intern, Device and Architecture Theory, AWS Center for Quantum Computing
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Quantum Research Scientist Intern to join their Center for Quantum Computing in Pasadena, CA. The role involves conducting theoretical research to inform the development of next-generation quantum processors, focusing on device physics and error-correcting codes, while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities
Conduct pathfinding theoretical research to inform the development of next-generation quantum processors
Potential focus areas include device physics of superconducting circuits, novel qubits and gate schemes, and physical implementations of error-correcting codes
Work closely with both theorists and experimentalists to explore these directions
Qualification
Required
Work 40 hours/week minimum and commit to 12 week internship maximum
Are 18 years of age or older
Can relocate to where the internship is based
Enrolled in PhD degree in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, computer science or an equivalent degree in a similar field
Research experience in quantum physics (e.g., in quantum computing, communication, or sensing; condensed matter physics; atomic, molecular, and optical physics; etc)
Proficient in a scientific programming environment
Preferred
Familiarity with quantum error correction (qubit codes and/or bosonic codes)
Experience performing numerical simulations of quantum systems
A demonstrated track record of original, impactful research on superconducting qubits, cavity/circuit QED, quantum optics, open quantum systems, or related areas
Experience successfully delivering on projects as part of a cross-team collaboration
Experience working directly with experimental data or supporting an experimental collaboration
