Quality Engineer, Operations (Onsite)

Responsibilities
Evaluate manufacturing processes and hardware to determine compliance to applicable requirements
Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to improve part quality signature
Improve manufacturing, assembly, inspection, and test processes to reduce and prevent defects and prevent quality escapes to our customers
Provide quality engineering support (interpretation, process approvals, etc.) to bargaining unit workers
Support day-to-day manufacturing activities such as review and approval of work instructions, process authorization requests (PAR), and first article inspections (FAI)
Use continuous improvement tools as well as the principles of lean manufacturing to investigate non-compliance issues and quality escapes
Perform root cause analysis, identifying and implementing robust corrective actions and gauge effectiveness to ensure quality standards are maintained
Support the communication and processing of quality notifications through the Material Review Board (MRB) process
Perform and follow-up on internal and external quality audits
Work with supplier quality engineering to resolve supplier issues that impact in-house hardware
Develop and deliver technical training to the inspection and operations teams
Qualification
Required
Advanced degree and 6+ months of experience in Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, or Operations within Aviation, Aerospace, Space, Military, Defense or other regulated industry; OR Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience; OR Associate's degree / Technical School Diploma and 4+ years of relevant industry experience. We will also consider Technical School Diploma or specialized Military training and 6+ years of relevant industry experience
US citizenship required due to government contracts
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Secret-level Security Clearance
Preferred
Degree in STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)
Working knowledge of MRO operations, shop practices, processes, procedures, inspection tooling and techniques and quality standards, ideally in an aerospace engine overhaul & repair environment
Former Quality Stamp holder with experience in variation control and closure
Experience with Quality Notifications/Material Review Board
ASQ -CQE certification a plus
Certified auditor and/or experience with AS9100, AS9102, ISO9001 QMS system
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage quality clinics or other projects effectively
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement tools (CORE/ACE/SixSigma, QCPC and RCCA)
Experience working with Microsoft Office, SAP ERP, Solumina and Teamcenter systems
Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization including senior level management
