Test Engineer - Undersea Special Mission Systems

General Dynamics Electric Boat is leading the shipbuilding industry by designing and maintaining advanced submarines for the U.S. Navy. The Test Engineer will support the Undersea Special Mission Systems team, acting as a project leader to assist with technical problem-solving and compliance oversight for assigned products.

Responsibilities

Provide project management support for initial system and/or component design, ship alteration upgrades, material ship out inspections and life cycle support
Troubleshoot problem statements and provide resolution to system and component related questions and problems from Naval Shipyards, Navy forces afloat, land based prototypes, prime contractors and NAVSEA engineering and program offices
Provide support to ensure products are being updated and worked according to the schedule and budget needs
Draft and/or submit Technical Instructions for engineering study and general support contracts
Develop integrated schedules and plan of action & milestone documents
Develop required training materials and procedure creation (as needed)
Assist the group with resolving inquiries from internal and external stakeholders as it relates to material, requirements, and specifications as they relate to DSS-SOC
Perform mission impact assessments for Planning Yard products and track follow on action completion
Interact with various NAVSEA and government stakeholders to include but not limited to: PMS390, PMS392, PMS396, PMS450, USSOCOM, WARCOM

Required

High School Diploma or GED
5+ years of U.S. Navy submarine experience
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the DoD

Preferred

Associate's degree or higher
Experience with EB certification and training electronic programs (Mainframe, Electronic Desktop, Cornerstone, etc.)
Prior experience working with NAVSUP or DLA; using ONETOUCH, Haystack and TARP
Navy Qualifications of Repair Parts Petty Officer (RPPO)
Diving and/or Special Operation Forces experience
Experience with Special Emphasis Programs (DSS-SOC, SUBSAFE, and Fly-by-Wire) requirements is desired
Strong PC skills to include proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Project
Ability to read and interpret drawings, military specifications, technical instructions, and technical data packages (TDPs)
