Department Head of Media Arts, Design, and Technology (MADT)
Design Observer is seeking a Department Head of Media Arts, Design, and Technology (MADT) to provide academic and administrative leadership while fostering collaboration among faculty, students, and staff. The role involves overseeing academic programs, managing departmental budgets, and promoting diversity and inclusion within the college and university.

Responsibilities
Guide faculty and students in a shared vision; collaborate across disciplines; represent the department on the College Administrative Council and other university bodies; and serve as liaison between department, college, and university
Serve as senior faculty advisor to students; teach approximately six (6) credit hours per year; oversee faculty assignments, annual reviews, and mentorship for reappointment, promotion, and tenure
Manage the B.A. in Design Studies, B.A./M.A. in Media Arts, Design and Technology; oversee curriculum, course scheduling, and long-term academic planning; lead external review processes
Support interdisciplinary initiatives and doctoral programs; advise the Dean on faculty appointments; manage departmental budgets; and assist in alumni relations, fundraising, and donor stewardship
Promote diversity, inclusion, and interdisciplinary collaboration in research, teaching, and engagement across the college and university
Qualification
Required
PhD/Doctoral Degree or terminal design degree (MFA, MAD, MArch, MID, MGD, MLA)
Academic administrative leadership experience
Credentials must support appointment at the rank of full professor
Experience and/or background in visual production, animation, game design and development, and interactive data visualization
A significant research, exhibition and/or publication record
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Professional experience relevant to design fields held in the department
Demonstration of excellence in effective teaching
Preferred
Professional licensure, if appropriate
Has received tenure in an accredited related program
Experience working with advisory boards and maintaining strong relationships with alumni and donors
Experience with extramural funding for research and/or funding that supports creative scholarship
Experience with program accreditation
