Responsibilities
Own delivery: translate stakeholder needs into an executable roadmap, milestones, and measurable outcomes
Lead the team: guide engineers through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operations
Stay technical and hands-on: review code, mentor engineers, and step in to solve hard problems (debugging, reliability, performance)
Drive architecture: shape system design, capacity planning, and tooling decisions (dev infrastructure, environments, pipelines)
Operationalize ML delivery: enable ML workflows (training → packaging → deploy → monitor) with production-minded engineering
Communicate clearly: write concise documentation and present complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences
Qualification
Required
Active DoD Secret clearance (must be current and maintained throughout the contract)
Onsite in Coronado, CA (this is not remote)
10+ years of professional coding/programming experience building production systems
Engineering leadership experience: you've led engineers and owned delivery outcomes (formal people management or clearly documented technical leadership with execution ownership)
Code quality ownership: comfortable reviewing PRs, setting engineering standards, and improving team velocity/quality
Modern delivery tooling: experience with CI/CD, automated testing, build/release pipelines, and developer tooling
Cloud + operational delivery: experience shipping and supporting systems through build → validate → release → operate
Systems + troubleshooting: strong fundamentals in systems, networking, and debugging real-world issues
Communication strength: can explain technical decisions clearly and produce solid technical writing
Bachelors or Higher in related field
Active Secret Clearance (SCI eligibility)
Ability to commute to Coronado, CA
Valid Passport
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and be authorized to work for the Federal government
Preferred
MLOps / ML platform experience: model deployment, monitoring, drift/retraining workflows, model registries
Containers/orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm
Infrastructure as code: Terraform / CloudFormation / Pulumi
Observability/ops: metrics/logging/tracing, incident response, reliability practices
Prior work in regulated or mission environments (DoD/Federal)
