Engineer I, Construction Electrical

The Construction Electrical Engineer I provides engineering support for construction and commissioning activities, assisting in technical documentation and problem resolution under the guidance of senior engineers.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing electrical erection, installation, and commissioning procedures under supervision
Review and interpret basic engineering documents such as single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and vendor drawings
Support document verification activities by checking for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with project requirements
Collect and organize technical data needed for construction support activities and turnover packages
Assist with resolving basic site issues, including minor drawing discrepancies, material mismatches, or routine supplier clarifications
Support field teams by gathering required documents and coordinating with Engineering, Quality, and Vendors
Observe construction and commissioning activities to understand electrical installation practices and compliance expectations
Help track and process Project Action Requests (PARs) with guidance from senior engineers
Participate in coordination meetings with engineering teams, suppliers, contractors, and site personnel
Communicate status updates on assigned tasks and escalate issues appropriately
Support a work environment focused on teamwork, communication, safety, and continuous learning

Required

Bachelor's degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
0–3 years of relevant experience; exposure to power plant equipment, electrical systems, or internships in heavy industry preferred
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and basic engineering documentation
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to collect data, analyze basic technical information, and draw preliminary conclusions
Ability to follow technical instructions and work through routine engineering tasks with supervision
Required to travel domestically or internationally up to 10–15% to support project needs

Preferred

Familiarity with Gas Turbine or CCGT equipment is beneficial but not required
Knowledge of OSHA safety fundamentals and ISO process concepts is an asset
