Lead Crisis Specialist

The Lead Crisis Specialist will serve as the primary clinical team member for crisis intervention, providing support and training for crisis staff while addressing social, emotional, or environmental crises for participants of all ages.

Responsibilities
Coordinate and facilitate essential training for new Crisis department employees
Review and provide constructive feedback on required paperwork for other departmental staff
Coordinate and facilitate clinical training and act as a resource for other staff
Respond to any crisis call in person within AHCCCS required time frames
Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of crisis services
Use community and Agency resources responsibly and knowledgeably
Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime when needed
Must attend mandatory department staff meetings and required trainings
Keep clear, concise, and accurate records of clinical activity according to Agency policy procedures
Coordinate and/or follow-up services of participants after initial contact
Provide outreach and engagement to outpatient clients as needed
Meet regularly with the Department Coordinator and other clinical staff for the purpose of clinical/case problem solving
Assist with on-the-job orientation and training of new staff members when needed
Establish and maintain a working relationship with referral resources, including the court system and law enforcement agency
Engage in the comprehensive court process for participants, including preparation and transport of necessary documents and testimony in the court as required
Maintain good attendance, reliability, and punctuality
Ability to prioritize workload
Perform other duties as assigned by the Crisis Program Coordinator
Provide assistance with other organizational needs when available
Qualification
Required
Minimum of High School Diploma/GED with four (4) years of behavioral health experience OR bachelor's degree in behavioral health related field. Experience equivalency is considered if combined education & experience meets qualifications as Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)
Must be at least 21 years of age or older
Possess valid driver's license with acceptable driving record including but not limited to a serious traffic violation (ie. Reckless Driving; at fault accident; felony speeding) or greater than two (2) traffic violations in prior 39 months
Trained in crisis intervention and offered services to agency participants and residents in the community
Appropriate referrals and placements within the treatment continuum
Demonstrated ability to provide counseling/case management to SMI participants in the Mental Health program
Demonstrated knowledge of special populations such as substance abuse
Demonstrated ability to develop treatment plan and summary based on participants needs
Demonstrated ability to distinguish between alcohol and other drug-related symptoms and other pre-existing physical problems or pathologic behaviors
Demonstrated ability to understand the biopsychosocial influences and effects of dependencies
Demonstrated knowledge of how the acute and chronic nature of dependence and the ways medical, emotional, behavioral, social, educational, and other interventions are used to treat the participant
Demonstrated knowledge of referral resources available to participants
Able to effectively employ analytical, sound judgement and problem-solving skills
Must be certified in First Aid and CPR, agency will provide training if necessary
Must obtain and maintain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card through Arizona Department of Public Safety
Possess the physical, mental, and cognitive ability to perform specific clinical and/or tasks required by the position without posing a direct threat to the safety and security of patients
Must complete notary exam and apply to obtain notary certification to support the involuntary treatment and petition process
Exercise high level of collaboration and team ship with team members, Agency leadership and staff, and community members and stakeholders, to most effectively utilize resources and accomplish objectives
Ensure interactions with all staff and community members are positive, courteous, respectful, and professional
Maintain calm, non-defensive, supportive attitude during difficult interactions
Resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure, without escalation
Work collaboratively and effectively with diverse staff and clients, in a non-offensive manner
Willingness to accept feedback, address behavior constructively, and commit to a high standard of professionalism
Long periods of sitting and standing, ability to bend, lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
Able to operate phone, Fax, copier, and a computer
Able to operate Agency vehicle and provide transportation that adheres to state and agency requirements
Preferred
Bilingual - English/Spanish
Prior experience working in Integrated Healthcare, Behavioral Health, or Primary Care environment. A bachelor's degree in a non-behavioral health related field candidate with a minimum of three (3) years Behavioral Health work experience OR bachelor's in psychology or behavioral health/medical related field with one (1) year Behavioral Health work experience
Trained in crisis intervention and offered services to agency participants and residents in the community
Apply to obtain clearance with the Pinal County Sheriff's office to ensure access to the Correctional Facilities
