Responsibilities

Conducting desktop analysis of biological and aquatic resources, and preparation of biological technical reports to be used in California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and/or National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and resource agency permitting
Preparation of technical reports to document findings from surveys and monitoring
Preparation of permit application packages for submittal to state and federal natural resource agency
Surveys for special-status wildlife, nesting birds and rare plants
Ability to manage and maintain strong client relationships
Communication with project proponents and stakeholder organizations
Organization of project files and tracking of project schedules
Travel to North Bay Area from Oakland will be required

Required

Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, or a related environmental science field
4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in biological impact analysis on linear projects, including impacts to special-status species and their habitat or wetlands or waters of the U.S.; or biological mitigation development and monitoring
Valid U.S. Driver License is required for this position
Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred

6+ years of relevant experience
Demonstrated expertise in technical writing with a proven ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate documentation
Knowledgeable about common and special-status northern California wildlife species
Experience surveying for special-status and protected species that may occur in the Northern San Francisco Bay Area, such as nesting birds, California red-legged frog, California tiger salamander, Foothill yellow legged frog, Northwestern pond turtle, Alameda Whipsnake, Giant garter snake, Swainson's hawk, Burrowing owl, Ridgeway's rail, Yellow billed cuckoo, Snowy plover, Marbled murrelet, Northern spotted owl, Salt marsh harvest mouse, Steelhead, Green sturgeon Delta smelt, Coho salmon, Western bumble bee, Vernal pool fairy shrimp, Valley elderberry longhorn beetle, Monarch butterfly, and others
Northern California plant identification skills
Experience conducting aquatic resources delineations is desired but not required
Significant experience supporting transportation projects is desired but not required
Experience on projects in California Coastal Commission jurisdiction, including experience with ESHA analysis
Experience writing and preparing impact analysis for CEQA and/or NEPA clearance, permit applications, or other supporting technical reports on natural resources
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information effectively to diverse audiences
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience in a client-facing role
Has a positive attitude and is adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment
