Mechanical Design Lead/Senior Mechanical Engineer
Diamond Peak Recruiting is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design efforts for food production, pharmaceutical, and other sanitary-focused facilities. The ideal candidate will manage and mentor a team while overseeing the development of mechanical system designs and ensuring compliance with project standards.

Responsibilities
Lead the development of mechanical system designs and coordinate seamlessly with interdisciplinary project teams
Oversee and direct the creation of mechanical, plumbing, and utility working drawings and specifications
Size, select, and specify HVAC, plumbing, and other utility equipment, including performing building heat load calculations for major HVAC systems
Conduct progress and final design reviews, ensuring compliance with project standards
Prepare design criteria and bid packages for subcontractor pricing, evaluate proposals, and manage submittals and RFIs
Collaborate with fire protection subcontractors on design development
Provide guidance and supervision to supporting engineers and drafters, fostering growth within the mechanical team
Participate in the estimating process for plant mechanical systems and support project execution with site visits as needed
Apply working knowledge of steam, hydronic systems, mechanical controls, sequence of operations, and P&ID diagrams
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Professional Engineering (PE) license required
Minimum 10 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, preferably in sanitary or process-driven environments (food production, pharmaceutical, etc.)
Willingness to travel to project sites approximately 15–25% of the time
Preferred
Proficiency in Building Load Estimating software; experience with Revit or other BIM platforms is a plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills; team-oriented with a positive, collaborative mindset
Ability to manage multiple tasks and mentor junior staff effectively
Strong command of MS Office suite
