Responsibilities
Respond to customer inquiries as appropriate
Maintain proper cash levels in drawers, ensure cash security, and uphold Bank safety standards
Accept checks for cashing, receive checking and related accounts, accept deposits, verify cash and endorsements, make change, and issue receipts
Process savings deposits, verify balances and signatures for withdrawals, and redeem U.S. Savings Bonds
Receive loan payments when accompanied by installment loan coupons
Handle night deposits and mail-in deposits
Process cashier's checks, cash advances, and other Bank services; accept applications and issue U.S. Savings Bonds
Service ATMs as scheduled or needed
Accept tax deposits and various utility payments
Open safety deposit boxes
Complete Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) as needed
Perform the duties of a branch Customer Service Representative (CSR) on a scheduled Saturday rotation
Assist with opening new accounts as needed
Cross-sell Bank and affiliate services
Complete all required training
Perform Other Related Duties As Assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
One to two years of customer service and cash handling experience required; experience in a bank or similar financial institution preferred
Strong customer service skills, with the ability to greet the public in a friendly and professional manner
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding Bank records and customer transactions
Detail-oriented, accurate, and able to multitask with strong mathematical aptitude
Proficiency in operating a computer terminal, 10-key, and other general office equipment
Willingness to represent Southern Bancorp through participation in civic and community organizations
Must possess and maintain current and valid driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage
Ability to travel among the following branches: Webb, Ruleville, Drew, Mound Bayou, and Shelby, Mississippi
Preferred
Experience in a bank or similar financial institution preferred
