Controls Lead - Data Center Operations
Thor Companies is working with a US data center owner/operator in New York that is strengthening its in-house controls capability. The Controls Lead will be responsible for making the controls system predictable, stable, and supportable across live and expanding sites, with a focus on engineering control sequences and supporting Ignition environments.
Responsibilities
Engineering and refining control sequences for critical mechanical + electrical infrastructure
Supporting / developing Ignition environments (tags, alarming, graphics, historian trends, integration)
Integrating PLC/DDC control layers with BMS/EPMS and operational monitoring
Troubleshooting performance issues post-installation (and preventing repeat issues)
Supporting commissioning efforts: functional testing, IST readiness, closeout discipline
Producing clean documentation (point lists, sequence narratives, standards) that ops can actually use
Qualification
Required
Experience in controls where uptime matters - data centers, industrial automation, power environments, or other mission-critical facilities
Ability to read drawings, challenge sequences, and solve problems in the field without creating churn
Experience building or supporting Ignition deployments
Engineering and refining control sequences for critical mechanical + electrical infrastructure
