Responsibilities

Lead administrative functions including hiring, training, performance management, salary administration and employee development, while applying Leadership with Heart principles
Assign and oversee commercial property claims, providing direction on coverage, investigation, reserving and overall claim evaluation
Authorize reserves and settlements beyond examiner authority and approve full or partial claim denials
Participate in complex claim conferences with the head of property claims and manage high-exposure, complex files
Review and escalate reinsurance notices for approval and ensure adherence to reporting guidelines
Drive timely claim resolution to achieve a 100% closing ratio and monitor files in appraisal and mediation
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, agents, attorneys and policyholders regarding coverage and claim status
Prepare formal responses to Department of Insurance (DOI) consumer inquiries
Partner with underwriting on product development and product health by sharing insights on claim trends, venues, statutes and case law that impact profitability

Required

Strong knowledge of coverage application, claim handling and jurisdictional issues that affect outcomes
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities
Proven organizational and time management skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
College degree or equivalent industry-specific designation or experience

Preferred

Five or more years of commercial claims handling experience
Professional designations such as CPCU, AEI, RPLU or AIC
Prior supervisory or leadership experience
