Instrumentation and Controls Technician

Responsibilities

Installing, inspect, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate various mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and electronic equipment and controls; complete all appropriate documentation associated
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on electronic equipment including but not limited to transmitters, switches, PLC controls and devices, measurement equipment, valve controls, odorizers, heaters, etc
Calibrate equipment including pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters and gas meters; troubleshoot errors; install and program remote terminal units
Perform routine odorant testing and work with Pipeline Controllers in performing point to point testing
Install and troubleshoot flow computers
Troubleshoot and tune gas regulators, control valves and actuators
Maintain gas chromatographs, electrical switch gear and power distribution up to 600VPerform Inspection and Maintenance (I&M) checks on all control systems
Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns
Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed
Responds to call outs
Completes all required safety and OQ training programs
Performs and/or assists with:
Locates facilities and reference points utilizing maps, drawings, and Global Positioning System (GPS)
Pigging operations at various checkpoints on pipeline
Compressor station operations, various flow control equipment and troubleshooting of related subsystems
Preventative and emergency pipeline maintenance work including leakage surveys, integrity surveys, cathodic protection surveys, valve inspections and maintenance, and equipment calibration
Maintain and update proper documentation on all tasks
Assists with calculating, compiling, and/or preparing information and reports including, but not limited to:
Gas/liquid flow and quality
Maintenance and/or repair logs
Collecting samples (gas/liquids)
Pipeline/corrosion activities
Changing charts, gauging tanks
DOT/PHMSA related tasks
Filter/separator maintenance
Construction watch and inspections
Complies with all regulatory, environmental and safety rules and standards, as well as company policies
Completes accurate records of repair and maintenance activities and documents changes to as-built drawings as repairs are made
Suggests equipment improvements and new equipment purchases

Required

Associates degree in related field of study or equivalent military training
5 years of related work experience
Valid PA state drivers license
Ability to read and utilize equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, alignment sheets and P&ID drawings
Knowledge and experience applying and interpreting results from common electrical measurement instruments (voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, etc.)
Able to install conduit and tubing and electrical wiring associated with controls and equipment supply
Working knowledge of National Electric Codes
Proficient with electronic test instruments
Knowledge of process controls and gas processing fundamentals
Ability to appropriately react to visual, audio and other signals, including alarms and instructions
Must obtain OQ qualifications in concordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements; may be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties
Ability to maintain a working knowledge of regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, EPA and state regulations) and Company Standard Operating Procedures including required documentation
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize assigned responsibilities and manage all activities with a focus on safety and compliance
Required to work indoors and outdoors, in and around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment with high noise levels
Required to occasionally work in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment
Able to use physical force to lift, push, pull and operate equipment and tools; ability to lift up to 50 pounds from ground level
Ability to climb and work at various heights; may work in a standing, sitting, lying, crouched or kneeling position
Ability to work in areas with limited access or cramped spaces
Requires the ability to get in and out of vehicles regularly and ride over rough roads
Will work with or near hazardous chemicals and may be required to wear SCBA and restrictive PPE
May be subject to overtime, 24/7 call out, and extended workdays and/or workweeks; may be assigned to shiftwork based on business requirements
Will be required to carry a cell phone
This position is Safety Sensitive
Must live within 35 miles of assigned work location
