Deputy Editor
Wiley is a trusted leader in research and learning, and they are seeking a dynamic and ambitious individual to join their team as Deputy Editor for their flagship journal, Advanced Science. The Deputy Editor will drive strategic initiatives in the field of catalysis, participate in the peer review process, and enhance content quality while building collaborative relationships with leading researchers.
Publishing
Responsibilities
Commission high-quality papers and build collaborative relationships with leading researchers to enhance content quality and brand influence
Develop and execute strategic initiatives to grow Wiley's Advanced Portfolio within catalysis globally
Collaborate with the global editorial team across departments to develop the journal portfolio and to manage manuscripts submitted from related subject areas for Advanced Science
Represent Wiley and the physical sciences portfolio at conferences and through in-person and virtual outreach activities at universities and research institutes
Contribute to the editorial evaluation, peer review, and decision-making for manuscripts submitted to the journal
Qualification
Required
PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science with a focus on catalysis
Excellent research background and a strong understanding of recent trends and developments in the field of catalysis
Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a flexible and innovative approach to problems and a focus on defining and achieving outcomes
Ability to work in a collaborative setting and achieve results through personal influence and engagement
A self-motivated, diplomatic, and flexible approach with outstanding organizational, efficiency, and time management skills and an excellent command of the English language (both written and verbal)
A keen interest in science and science communication, and a strong desire to advocate for innovations in publishing and open research
Confidence to present and represent the journal portfolio at conferences
Mindset with ability to identify opportunities and convert strategic visions into actionable plans
A strong understanding of scientific publishing, including commissioning and the peer-review process
Preferred
Post-doctoral experience would be preferred
Prior experience in publishing, editorial, or science communication and understanding of Open Access workflows and Open Research is highly desirable
