Mount Sinai Morningside is a part of the Mount Sinai Health System, one of the largest academic medical systems in the New York metro area. The Director of Revenue Engagement is responsible for optimizing revenue cycle processes, enhancing cash collections, and ensuring regulatory compliance across various healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and improve end-to-end revenue cycle functions, from patient scheduling and registration through to final payment and resolution of accounts
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce denials, and increase collections
Collaborate closely with operational leadership across Hospitals, Ambulatory Care Settings, PBP, RCM, and other Mount Sinai divisions to improve revenue cycle performance
Partner with hospital leadership, ambulatory leadership, department/institute/service line leaders, providers and practice staff to promote engagement and alignment with RCM goals
Develop strong, collaborative relationships with cross-functional stakeholders including DTP, Human Performance, Managed Care, Finance, and clinical departments
Work with finance and managed care teams to improve registration, coding, and billing accuracy and performance
Support clinical leaders and administrators by providing education on revenue cycle best practices and insurance verification procedures
Investigate denial trends and develop innovative solutions to reduce occurrences and improve resolution
Drive adoption of best practices, process improvements, and technology enhancements to improve performance and compliance
Analyze revenue data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
Provide regular financial and operational reports to senior leadership, including analysis of actual vs. expected performance metrics
Present actionable insights and recommendations to leadership and governance committees
Collaborate with IT and system vendors to ensure optimal performance of revenue cycle systems and seamless integration with other platforms
Ensure adherence to federal and state billing and coding regulations, including HIPAA, CMS, DOH/OMH, and payer requirements
Implement internal policies and controls to minimize revenue cycle risk and maintain compliance
Stay current on regulatory changes and guide necessary updates to internal processes
Lead, mentor, and support revenue cycle and engagement staff
Provide training and career development opportunities to foster team growth and effectiveness

Required

Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or related field required
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in healthcare revenue cycle management
Proven success in optimizing revenue cycle operations and reducing denials
Expertise in authorization, registration, billing, coding, reimbursement methodologies, and regulatory compliance
Deep understanding of insurance plans and payer reimbursement
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial reporting skills
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities
Proficiency with revenue cycle software and Microsoft Office tools
Deep understanding of professional practice, hospital, and ambulatory operations
Strong customer service orientation with a commitment to service excellence
