Responsibilities

Supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of staff responsible for the electrical work in and repairs to County facilities
Ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures
Performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility

Required

Five years of full time paid experience as a journey level electrician in the commercial and/or industrial environment, three years of which must include experience leading electrical staff and assembling estimates/budgets
A valid California Driver License, Class C or higher, may be required at the time of appointment
Positions in this class are required to comply with Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations, General Industry Safety Orders, Section 5144, Respiratory Protection
Positions in this class require the incumbent to be able to carry 15 pounds of equipment for over 100 feet
Positions in this class require the incumbent to be able to go up and down flights of stairs and climb a ladder
Positions in this class require the incumbent to be able to work in a bent, kneeling, or prone position for over 15 minutes at a time
Positions in this class require the incumbent to be able to work while standing or kneeling for extended periods of time and wearing personal protective equipment
Positions in this class require the incumbent to be able to enter and exit through restricted entrances of 30 inches in diameter and work in awkward positions in tight spaces
Positions in this class require the incumbent to demonstrate color vision sufficient to distinguish the colors of electrical wiring
Positions in this class require the incumbent to have normal sense of smell and normal or corrected vision and hearing to observe process and equipment functions for normal and abnormal occurrences
Positions in this class require the incumbent to have normal sense of touch to detect abnormalities in temperature, flow, and vibration
Positions in this class require the incumbent to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
Positions in this class require the incumbent to lift and carry equipment weighing in excess of 50 pounds with assistance
Positions in this class require the incumbent to work outside in all types of climatic conditions including inclement and very hot weather
Positions in this class require the incumbent to work in loud or noisy areas
Positions in this class require the incumbent to work in enclosed tight spaces
Positions in this class require the incumbent to work alone for extended periods of time
Positions in this class require the incumbent to work around machinery and equipment with moving parts
Positions in this class require the incumbent to work around dust, dirt, fumes and/or odors, contaminated and non-contaminated water
Positions in this class require the incumbent to work various shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays and non-routine hours
