The State of Florida's Department of Health is seeking a Government Operations Consultant II to support public health initiatives in Monroe County. The role involves coordinating, implementing, and evaluating programs aimed at improving health access and quality of life for residents, while ensuring alignment with public health priorities and grant objectives.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Lead the implementation of Quality-of-Life initiatives aimed at enhancing community well-being and reducing health differences across Monroe County
Serve as the primary liaison for the REDCH Grant, ensuring timely completion of deliverables and alignment with grant objectives and public health goals
Facilitate partner meetings, documenting progress and promoting shared accountability
Collect, analyze, and report program data using Excel and other reporting platforms; produce quarterly and annual reports for leadership and grant compliance
Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations to support initiatives related to housing, transportation, education, and access to health services
Coordinate outreach and educational efforts that promote equitable access to community resources and reduce barriers to health
Oversee grant-related activities including funding applications, budget tracking, documentation, and compliance reporting
Collaborate with Community Health and Healthy Communities teams to promote physical activity, nutrition, injury prevention, and tobacco-free environments
Plan and execute community events, educational campaigns, and recognition programs that support Healthy Communities goals
Monitor progress toward objectives using data collection tools and provide regular updates to leadership
Partner with schools, nonprofits, and local agencies to foster healthier environments and increase community engagement
Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP)
Participate in coalitions and task forces focused on public health and quality of life issues
Contribute to special projects that strengthen interagency collaboration and community partnerships
Maintain accurate documentation and performance metrics for all related initiatives
Actively participate in Performance Management Council (PMC) meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts
Record and submit meeting minutes in a timely and organized manner
Assist the Community Health Director with accreditation-related tasks and documentation
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support the mission and strategic goals of the Community Health Division

Required

Strong understanding of public health principles, social determinants of health, and strategies to address health differences through community-based initiatives
Knowledge of community engagement practices, coalition-building, and cross-sector collaboration to support health improvement efforts
Familiarity with grant-funded program management, including compliance tracking, reporting requirements, and fiscal accountability
Knowledge of the Monroe County Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) and its role in guiding local health strategies
Awareness of best practices in outreach, education, and resource navigation to promote equitable access to health services
Proficient in organizing, analyzing, and interpreting public health data to evaluate program effectiveness and inform decision-making
Skilled in preparing clear, concise, and impactful written and verbal reports for internal leadership, grant compliance, and community stakeholders
Effective in planning, coordinating, and evaluating multiple concurrent projects, including events, initiatives, and strategic meetings
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaborative relationships with schools, nonprofits, coalitions, and government agencies
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data reporting systems for tracking performance measures, compiling reports, and visualizing progress
Ability to manage complex program timelines and deliverables while maintaining attention to detail and responsiveness to evolving community needs
Capacity to lead and facilitate meetings, workshops, and outreach activities that engage diverse populations and promote health access
Ability to travel throughout Monroe County to support community events, partner meetings, and program implementation
Adaptability to changing public health priorities, grant requirements, and local conditions, with a commitment to continuous improvement
Position requires a valid Florida Driver's License and access to private transportation
Emergency Duty: Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency
Confidentiality: Incumbent may have access to records containing Social Security numbers in the performance of their job duties
