The Social Media & Communications Intern supports the organization's marketing and communication efforts by creating engaging content, managing social media platforms, and assisting with various communication projects.

Responsibilities
Create, edit, and schedule social media posts across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok)
Monitor social media channels for engagement, respond to comments/messages, and escalate inquiries as needed
Ensure brand consistency in tone, style, and visual identity across all digital platforms
Draft and edit content for newsletters, blogs, and press releases
Collaborate with staff to gather stories, photos, and videos for marketing purposes
Assist in creating graphics and short videos using tools like Canva
Analyze social media metrics and prepare performance reports with recommendations for improvement
Research trends and competitor strategies to inform content planning
Support planning and execution of marketing campaigns, events, and community outreach initiatives
Assist with website updates and SEO optimization
Help maintain media contact lists and distribute press releases
Sit on the Community Development Committee
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent, required
Currently enrolled in a college program in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
Previous experience managing social media accounts (personal, academic, or professional)
Experience with content creation tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar)
Strong writing and editing skills
Familiarity with social media platforms and trends
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Must be able to successfully pass background checks
Preferred
Familiarity with analytics tools (Facebook Insights, Instagram Analytics, or Google Analytics preferred)
Basic graphic design or video editing skills (preferred)
