Engineer I - Natural Gas - Hammond, IN

They are seeking an Engineer I to support the Natural Gas Distribution group, responsible for performing engineering functions and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities
Perform engineering functions, including investigations, evaluations, calculations, and specifications, for design projects
Assist in the development of engineering drawings, designs, and documentation under the supervision of senior engineers
Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to assignments requiring independent judgment
Collaborate with designers and project managers to define scope, monitor progress, and review design deliverables
Supervise or obtain field data, client information, vendor information, and other inputs necessary for project execution
Ensure all project activities align with client and industry standards, including: 49 CFR Part 192: Federal safety standards for natural gas pipelines. ASME B31.8: Gas Transmission and Distribution Piping Systems. ASME B31: General pressure piping standards
Support the preparation of designs that meet regulatory, safety, and quality standards
Review and verify the accuracy of engineering calculations and design drawings
Participate in company training programs and mentorship opportunities to develop technical expertise
Gain familiarity with industry-specific software, tools, and design processes
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
0–3 years of experience in engineering or a related technical field
Proficiency in engineering design software, such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or Civil 3D
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations and is also subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment
Preferred
EIT (Engineer in Training) or FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification preferred
Familiarity with natural gas distribution systems or utility infrastructure
Familiarity with utility and civil construction practices
Knowledge of permitting processes and regulatory compliance for the natural gas industry
