They are seeking a Geographic Information Systems Analyst to build and maintain data pipelines for geospatial data analysis and applications within the Department of Children and Family Services.

Responsibilities

Creates mapping and other visualizations in MS Power Bl from Oracle and other database sources
Generates ad hoc reports in response to requests from departmental managers
Uses PostGIS' high-performance capabilities to geospatially join very large geospatial data layers for updating tables
Operates, creates, and debugs Python scripts used for address geocoding workflows
Researches via Google, Bing, OpenStreetMap and other resources to investigate addresses
Uses ArcGIS Pro and/or open-source tools to maintain geospatial layers
Investigates and reconciles RAVS issues at the request of DCFS Hotline staff
Researches precise boundary locations of DCFS Regional Offices, law enforcement jurisdictions, cities, and counties
Converts coordinates in different projections using ArcGIS or PostGIS
Assists with the creation and debugging of Python scripts used by AWS Lambda functions
Maintains and updates geospatial databases on our PostgreSQL server on Amazon Web Services
Works with teams of software developers to develop or improve geospatial web applications
Uses Esri's GUI driven tools to create ad hoc geospatial applications
Participates in the research of new and emerging geospatial technologies

Required

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), GIScience, Geography, or a closely related field requiring at least 18 semester units or 27 quarter units in the equivalent coursework in Geographic Information Systems -AND- either satisfactory completion of a six months GIS internship in data engineering or at least six months of data engineering experience in the uses and operations of Geographic Information Systems
An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Geographic Information Systems, GIScience, Geography -OR- a field requiring at least 18 semester units or 27 quarter units of equivalent coursework in Geographic Information Systems -AND- three (3) years of data engineering experience performing technical duties in support of Geographic Information Systems using standard GIS and Data Engineering tools to populate and manipulate geospatial and cloud databases and generate geospatial products
Successful completion of a GIS Certificate Program from an accredited college or university requiring at least 18 semester units or 27 quarter units of equivalent coursework may be substituted for the required education
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions
