Maintenance Manager

Responsibilities
Direct and oversee all maintenance operations, ensuring alignment with corporate engineering and reliability standards
Develop and manage departmental budgets, staffing plans, and capital improvement initiatives
Define and communicate department objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and expectations
Provide leadership and mentorship to supervisors, leads, and technicians to ensure engagement and performance
Establish and maintain skill development and succession planning strategies for all maintenance personnel
Represent the Maintenance Department in leadership meetings, audits, and cross-functional reviews
Ensure all maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with OSHA and Bakerly policies
Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability
Manage vendor and contractor relationships, ensuring quality and cost control in all external maintenance work
Maintain proper spare parts inventory levels and accuracy through CMMS management
Ensure timely and accurate documentation of maintenance activities, work orders, and inspections
Support Engineering with equipment design modifications and capital projects
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and implement corrective actions
Drive initiatives to improve reliability, performance, and efficiency of plant systems
Partner with Production, Quality, and Sanitation teams to maintain uptime and product integrity
Promote sustainability and resource efficiency by reducing utilities consumption
Foster open communication and collaboration across departments to ensure seamless operations
Ensure adherence to GMPs, food safety standards (SQF, FSMA), and company maintenance policies
Promote a proactive safety culture through regular training, audits, and incident prevention
Support compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to safety, environmental, and facility systems
Leads the Maintenance Department, including supervisors, leads, and technicians
Accountable for hiring, training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary action within the department
Responsible for developing leadership capability and maintaining a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Maintenance preferred
Minimum of 4 years of industrial/mechanical maintenance experience in a packaging or manufacturing environment
Minimum of 2 years in a management or leadership position within a food manufacturing setting
Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance planning
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and refrigeration systems
Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
Ability to build and lead a multi-disciplinary technical team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); AutoCAD knowledge a plus
Excellent problem-solving, organization, and time management abilities
Commitment to safe work practices and high operational standards
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb (including stairs/ladders)
Ability to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
Dexterity to handle tools, parts, and materials
Vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment
Work primarily on the production floor with exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and noise levels
Frequent standing, walking, and bending required
Possible proximity to food ingredients, including allergens (wheat, dairy)
PPE required at all times (hairnet, beard net if applicable, gloves, safety shoes)
Strict adherence to sanitation and safety standards
Preferred
Associate or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related technical discipline
Formal training or certification in reliability engineering or maintenance planning
Experience implementing predictive maintenance or continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., TPM, Lean)
