Responsibilities

Assist engineering staff (MTS), in the Parts, Materials and Processes Department, performing laboratory work in failure analysis and evaluation of electronic components and boards
Make observations on samples with optical microscopes and other analytical equipment, record test data and perform electronic construction and assembly tasks, including soldering and testing and perform physical and electrical tests on electronic, electrical, or electromechanical parts as needed in support of MTS
Implement automated data collection from test instruments and work with laboratory support organizations (stores, machine shop, information, and computer services) to implement improvements that will allow the laboratory to function more effectively
Collate test data/results for review/analysis and prepare data reports
Participate with an interdisciplinary team in ongoing research or technical programs with academic collaboration partners
Apply standard techniques and procedures to carry out a series of prescribed scientific and/or engineering tasks

Required

Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in electrical engineering, material science, physics or related discipline
Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full-time after completion of the internship
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Experience in the tools, techniques and procedures used in electronic and test/characterization. (For example, the successful candidate should know how to read and interpret circuit diagrams and how to operate basic electrical measurement equipment)
Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment, complete and document work assignments on time
This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
Transcripts required

Preferred

GPA of 3.5 or higher
Hold an active security clearance
Possess project management skills in applications such as MS Project, Jira, etc
