Responsibilities

Report, write, and edit clear, authoritative content including research reports, policy briefs, executive summaries, web features, and explanatory journalism
Develop story angles and narrative frameworks that contextualize economic and financial data within real-world policy impacts
Draft press releases, media backgrounders, newsletters, and external communications for public and policy audiences
Ghostwrite op-eds, commentary, speeches, and presentations for organizational leadership
Translate pension funding models, fiscal trends, and actuarial data into accessible, accurate narratives
Collaborate closely with research and data teams to ensure editorial accuracy, sourcing integrity, and analytical clarity
Apply journalistic standards of fact-checking, attribution, and editorial rigor across all publications
Ensure digital content is optimized for discoverability, including SEO and emerging generative-search environments
Manage editorial workflows, revisions, and production schedules across multiple concurrent projects
Maintain consistent voice, tone, and message discipline across platforms

Qualification

Required

Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial journalism, economic reporting, policy journalism, or data-driven editorial roles
Demonstrated experience reporting on economics, public finance, government budgets, labor markets, or related policy areas
Strong ability to interpret datasets, research findings, and technical reports and convert them into narrative journalism
Proven track record of explanatory or investigative writing grounded in quantitative analysis
Experience writing for both informed policy audiences and general readers
Familiarity with SEO best practices and evolving content strategies in AI-mediated search environments
Exceptional editing, copy-editing, and fact-checking skills
Experience working with CMS platforms and collaborating with designers or data-visualization staff

Preferred

Prior experience ghostwriting or producing content on behalf of senior leaders or subject-matter experts is strongly preferred
Background knowledge of public pensions, state and local finance, labor economics, or fiscal policy is highly desirable
