ConsultingManufacturingProduct Design
Responsibilities
Own designs end-to-end: translate requirements into specifications, 3D models, drawings, and BOMs; manage revisions through release
Model & detail: create parts/assemblies in a modern CAD tool (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX, Inventor) with proper GD&T and tolerance stacks
Design for manufacturability: apply DFM/DFA principles; collaborate with suppliers on processes, materials, and cost
Risk & reliability: run design FMEA, address safety-by-design considerations, and drive corrective/preventive actions (RCCA/CAPA)
Problem-solve on the floor: support builds and launches; lead root-cause analysis using structured methods (5-Why, fishbone, DOE)
Documentation & change control: create and maintain specs, test plans, and ECNs within our PLM/PDM and quality systems (ISO/AS/cGMP as applicable)
Continuous improvement: identify opportunities for performance, quality, and cost improvements across products, tooling, and fixtures
(For senior levels) Lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate cross-functional design reviews
