Senior Broadcast and Audio Engineer
Pac-12 Enterprises is a leading collegiate athletics conference with a focus on athletic and academic excellence. They are seeking a Senior Broadcast and Audio Engineer to provide technical support for live broadcasts and audio systems, ensuring high-quality production and collaboration with various teams.
Responsibilities
Provide engineering support for assigned live broadcasts as first-line support for Production and Transmission teams
Support the planning and execution of broadcast technology deployment and maintenance in the facility and field
Provision and maintain physical equipment for the facility and field, including case assembly, racking, cabling, electrical, etc
Define, document, and help implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices
Availability to participate, respond to, and manage 24x7 responses to emergency needs
Limited travel as required
Other duties as assigned by management
Oversee setup, operation, and troubleshooting of audio systems for live and recorded productions
Maintain and calibrate audio equipment, including microphones, mixers, DSPs, intercom systems, IFB systems, and loudspeakers
Ensure high-quality audio capture and transmission across all production environments, both in-studio and remote
Collaborate with producers, directors, and on-air talent to ensure optimal audio quality and consistency
Manage audio routing, signal flow, and audio-over-IP (AoIP) systems such as Dante
Work with A1s and A2s to prepare audio setups for complex shows, including multichannel mixes and remote audio feeds
Maintain an organized inventory of audio equipment and recommend purchases or upgrades as needed
Assist in the design and integration of new audio systems and infrastructure in control rooms and mobile units
Qualification
Required
Minimum of three years' experience within an engineering, audio engineering, or broadcast maintenance organization
In-depth knowledge and experience in IP technology and broadcast technologies design and support, specifically for At-Home (REMI) production models
Strong understanding of audio engineering principles, audio signal flow, gain structure, and troubleshooting
Experience with Hardware and Cloud-based CODECs (Nevion, Evertz, Haivision, AWS/Elemental, etc) using J2K, H.264, HEVC, HLS, RTMP, RTP-FEC, SRT, RIST, ZIXI
Production control room and studio infrastructure: video routers, switchers, audio consoles, intercom systems, audio interfaces, graphics, MAM, etc
Setup and configuration of file-based workflow systems
Audio-over-IP (AoIP) systems such as Dante, AES67, or Ravenna
Basic networking skills: router & switch config, traceroute, ping, nmap, etc
Basic Linux and Windows server administration
Exposure to key AWS services (S3, EC2, CloudFront, etc.)
Google Workspace (Docs, Calendar, Gmail, etc.)
Project management tools such as Jira
Good relationship management and negotiation skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to be on-call 24 hours to provide support for escalated issues
Ability to lift and move audio/visual equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in audio engineering, broadcast engineering, computer science, or related field preferred
Knowledgeable and passionate about sports
