Florida State University is currently in the leadership phase of a comprehensive campaign and is seeking an Associate Director of Development for University Libraries. This role involves executing a personal solicitation program for philanthropic support, developing strategic fundraising initiatives, and managing relationships with major gift prospects.

Responsibilities

Strategically execute a personal solicitation program resulting in philanthropic support by maximizing the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects for gifts at the $50,000 and up level
Secure, on an annual basis, private support at the major gift level ($50K+) and will be responsible for identification of potential major gift prospects for University Libraries who can be cultivated for future support
Works with the Dean, the Senior Director of Development, and the other members of the development, communications and alumni team to develop and execute strategic fundraising initiatives on behalf of University Libraries and the University
Develops, coordinates and executes an annual major gift plan for University Libraries, implementing fundraising activities designed to meet an annual major gift fundraising goal; Establishes new relationships resulting in philanthropic investments, maintains existing relationships which may generate new philanthropic investments, and provides prospect/donor-related assessments and feedback for University Libraries and University Advancement; Identifies, qualifies and sustains a viable portfolio of individual prospects who have a giving capacity of $50,000 or more; Secures gifts and pledges from alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends of FSU
Exhibits and promotes a comprehensive understanding of the philanthropic priorities of University Libraries, effectively matching the specific interests of prospects to those needs
Effectively communicates FSUs mission and represents FSU’s culture to external stakeholders
Plans for and initiates direct activities with prospects that are designed to enhance the affiliation between the prospect and the University
Negotiates gift agreements, prepares, and presents proposals
Prepares correspondence with prospects and documents communications, solicitation activity and gift information in compliance with University Advancement reporting guidelines and FSU’s Gift Acceptance and Counting Policies
Assists in the facilitation of meetings, communications, informational exchanges and project/philanthropic coordination with FSU faculty and academic leadership
Creates, inspires, and maintains donor loyalty, interest and enthusiasm through stewardship communication and activities designed to express recognition, appreciation and the impact of their gift(s). Implementation of such a stewardship plan may include but should not be limited to letters, communication of unit or university initiatives, invitations to appropriate activities, meetings, events, student engagement or the facilitation of campus visits
Coordinates with central development colleagues within the Division of University Advancement and other cross-functional team members to identify prospects and develop team solicitation plans for major and principal giving, planned giving, and corporate and foundation relations in coordination with the University Office of Research
Assists in the management of all volunteer boards associated with University Libraries
Protects confidential information
Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)
A valid Florida or Georgia Driver's License or the ability to obtain upon hire and willing to drive
