Help Desk Specialist

They are seeking a Help Desk Specialist to provide Level 1 support at a client location in New York City, focusing on technical assistance and troubleshooting for users. The role involves maintaining IT asset inventory, assisting with standard productivity applications, and escalating complex issues as needed.

Responsibilities
Provide L1 desktop support for resolving hardware, software, printer, and connectivity issues with prompt desk-side assistance
Serve as the primary point of contact for NYC employees, escalating more complex or advanced issues to the MSP and tracking resolution progress
Maintain accurate IT asset inventory, track equipment repairs and replacements, and ensure documentation of all support Tickets
Support staff in using standard productivity applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, email, video conferencing tools)
Level 1 (L1) Support serves as the first line of technical assistance for end users. This tier handles day-to-day operational support across workstations, laptops, and PBX phone systems, focusing on rapid response, incident triage, and routine maintenance tasks
Provisioning/deprovisioning of workstations
Hardware/software break-fix- Level 1
Level 2 Support responsibilities, including application modifications, configuration adjustments, and network-related changes, will be managed by the Client
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
1-3 years' experience in a IT support, helpdesk support role
Valid (non-suspended or limited) Driver's License
We will consider a variety of technical certifications in the categories of networking, server, storage, virtualization, Microsoft including Office 365, AWS, and security
Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Valid (non-suspended or limited) Driver's License and dependable transportation for timely work attendance and/or occasional supply or materials errands as needed or required
Candidate must be highly organized and structured
Industry Standard Certifications such as MCP, Office 365, A+, HDI (Help Desk Institute)
Experience with Connectwise ticketing system, PRTG, IT Glue
Experience troubleshooting various Windows Operating Systems (7, 10, Server 2008, 2012, 2016)
Strong communication and writing skills, fast learner, self starter
Work cohesively with Tier II and others to resolve any technical problem(s)
Excellent written / verbal skills
Excellent abilities to critically think and troubleshoot efficiently
Self-starter, self-sufficient with ability to work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision
