WRM-2026-4i Water Systems Engineering Intern (Green Fellow)
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is seeking a Water Systems Engineering Intern to provide hands-on experience in drinking water management. The intern will work closely with professional engineers to evaluate public water systems for compliance with State and Federal regulations.

Responsibilities
Review and approval of Engineering Plans and Specifications to ensure designs are in compliance with State and Federal Rules and Regulations
Determine finished water storage compliance per State rule requirements
Make recommendations related to public water system treatment and infrastructure
Review sources and treatment plant capacity and existing demands, as well as update the deficit surplus evaluation
Review and evaluation of water systems to ensure there is sufficient capacity to maintain supply to the public in an emergency
Assistance on special projects within the Bureau as assigned
Qualification
Required
Internship Hours Per Week: 28 – 35 hours per week
Hourly Rate: $30
Preferred Area of Study: Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other Engineering fields
License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position
Authorization to Work: Selected candidates must be authorized to work in the United States per the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations
Veteran's Preference: To qualify for New Jersey Veteran's Preference/status, you must establish Veteran's Preference through the Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs
