Responsibilities

Design of transportation structures including highway bridges, retaining walls, and box culverts

Preparing structural analysis and design calculations according to the applicable design codes; using computer programs as appropriate

Preparing technical reports, contract plans, and specifications, construction cost estimates and performance of on-site structural inspections, analysis and condition assessment of existing structures

Assisting with project construction administration including reviews of shop drawings and requests for information (RFI's)

Mentoring junior engineering staff in technical and project development

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering

5+ years of successful project experience within a consulting engineering firm

Expertise in bridge design principles and bridge inspection experience

Strong technical leader with financial project management experience including scheduling, contract control, budget and cost control

Experience with Microstation and structural analysis design and finite element software

Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills

Considerable experience in dealing with clients, contractors and vendors

Successful experience supporting multiple projects

Preferred

Master's in Structural Engineering

Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) preferred, or actively pursuing licensure with anticipated completion within 2 years

Knowledge of Illinois Department of Transportation design standards, procedures and specifications
