Senior/Staff Software Engineer (Python, MuleSoft, AWS)

Optomi, in partnership with a leading financial services organization, is seeking a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on across cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, enterprise integrations, and modern web applications. This role is ideal for a senior technologist who mentors engineers, influences architecture, and delivers scalable, production-grade systems.

Responsibilities

Serve as a technical leader and mentor across engineering teams; set coding, design, and delivery standards
Design and implement API-led connectivity using MuleSoft (System, Process, Experience APIs)
Partner with architects, product leaders, and business stakeholders across the organization
Design, build, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure and services
Architect and develop scalable Python-based data ingestion pipelines from APIs, databases, streaming platforms, and enterprise systems
Build automated data quality checks and support analytics, reporting, and downstream consumers
Design and develop responsive Angular web applications and dashboards
Build and integrate RESTful APIs and Python-based backend microservices
Lead code reviews, contribute to sprint planning, and guide Agile best practices
Troubleshoot complex issues across application, integration, and data layers
Design frameworks for collecting, transforming, and publishing customer data
Identify trends in complex datasets and present actionable insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required

7+ years of experience in software engineering with demonstrated Staff-level technical leadership
Hands-on experience building cloud-based microservices and integration layers, including MuleSoft (Anypoint Platform)
Strong foundation in computer science, mathematics, or data-focused disciplines
Deep AWS expertise including VPC, S3, EC2, SNS/SQS, Kinesis, Step Functions, and OpenSearch
Hands-on experience with EKS/Kubernetes, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and RDS
Advanced proficiency in Python for backend services, data pipelines, and analytics
Strong experience building cloud-based microservices and integration layers, including MuleSoft
Experience with data pipelines, SQL, and analytical tooling
3–5+ years of Angular experience with modern UI/UX and accessibility best practices
Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab) and Agile tooling (Jira, Confluence)
Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across teams

Preferred

Experience with Kafka, Spark Streaming, ELK, Cassandra, or MongoDB
MuleSoft and/or AWS certifications
