RN Manager Community Living Center (Acute Care)
The Erie VA Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Manager for the CLC - Acute Care Unit. This role provides leadership and oversight of nursing operations, ensuring patient-centered care while managing staffing, scheduling, and performance evaluations to enhance patient outcomes for Veterans.

Responsibilities
Plan work, set priorities, and prepare schedules; assign tasks based on priorities, requirements, and staff capabilities
Evaluate staff performance; recommend appointments, advancements, or reassignments
Provide advice, counseling, and instruction on work and administrative matters; resolve complaints and refer serious issues; recommend/take disciplinary action as appropriate
Identify training needs; ensure staff development, competency validation, and orientation support (including student nurse clinical experiences and onboarding of new nurse managers)
Lead performance improvement, patient and employee safety, customer service/satisfaction, and compliance with accreditation/regulatory standards
Collaborate across Geriatrics & Extended Care (GEC) (long-term care, short-term rehab, restorative, respite, hospice, palliative care) to improve outcomes
Apply Minimum Data Set (MDS) and Resource Utilization Group (RUG) scoring to determine resident acuity; partner with the RN Assessment Coordinator (RNAC) to educate staff on resident complexity
Manage staffing and time scheduling; coach staff; address conduct/performance; complete reports and performance evaluations on time
Participate in service/medical center committees and unit/shared governance; partner with the union and adhere to EEO principles; champion Cultural Transformation, High Reliability Organization (HRO), Patient-Centered Care, Just Culture, and I CARE values
Perform duties primarily in CLC-Acute Care and throughout the facility as needed
Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959

English Language Proficiency. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia
ACLS certification is required for this position
