Responsibilities
Diagnoses defects, handles repairs and performs minor and major work on a wide variety of light and heavy automotive equipment and machinery within the City’s fleet
Operates various types of equipment, machinery, instruments and specialized tools necessary to perform mechanic duties
Inspects and troubleshoots problems and adjusts, replace and/or make necessary recommendations
Performs duties of Fleet Management Manager in his/her absence
Inspects work being done or completed by other subordinates and may peer review to certify that work has been completed to satisfaction
Prepares vehicle shop repair records
Distributes work orders
Orders parts
Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals to include City employees, vendors and suppliers
Supervises Automotive Mechanic I
Other duties as required
Qualification
Required
High school diploma graduate or GED
Vocational coursework in automotive and heavy equipment repair
Five years' experience in automotive repair and maintenance
Two years' experience with fleet management software
Excellence in many areas of vehicle repairs
Must possess a valid State of Florida driver's license with satisfactory driving record throughout employment
CDL Class A or B required within 6 months of hire
Must possess working knowledge of various tools, machinery and equipment used to perform duties as required
Must possess basic knowledge of word processing, data base and other computer skills
Must be able to lift 60 pounds
