Sale & Business Development Manager
AD Energy Recruitment is partnering with a leading provider of sustainable energy solutions to appoint a North America Sales & Business Development Manager. This senior leadership role involves driving regional sales performance, managing key stakeholder relationships, and developing strategic partnerships in the sustainable energy sector.
Responsibilities
Identify and pursue opportunities across anaerobic digestion, RNG, wastewater, and organic waste infrastructure
Lead development of BOO opportunities, including:
Permitting strategies
Feedstock agreements
Offtake agreements
Lease and land-use agreements
Interface directly with client leadership, municipal decision-makers, boards, and consultants
Navigate municipal approval processes and develop approval strategies for public infrastructure projects
Prioritise and coordinate sales activities with business development and applications engineering teams
Support customer retention and long-term account management
Lead negotiations, proposal development, contract structuring, and commercial agreements
Support financing and project structuring alongside internal commercial and financial teams
Improve and automate sales processes, ensuring historical data is leveraged for future proposals
Monitor and communicate industry trends, competitor activity, and new technology developments
Conduct market research to identify high-quality prospective opportunities
Develop targeted lead-generation strategies
Coordinate conference participation, industry events, and outreach initiatives
Establish market analysis frameworks to support strategic growth
Manage performance of the regional sales and business development team
Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback
Conduct regular performance reviews and support professional development
Collaborate closely with engineering, legal, and project execution teams to ensure effective project definition, contracting, and handover
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required
5+ years' experience in business development, project development, applications engineering, or technical sales
Proven track record selling system-based solutions into the municipal wastewater sector
Strong technical understanding of anaerobic digestion
Strong technical understanding of biogas upgrading and treatment
Strong technical understanding of wastewater and sludge processing
Strong technical understanding of municipal solid waste systems
Excellent negotiation, networking, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to engage confidently with executives, general managers, boards, consultants, and engineers
Strong proposal writing and commercial documentation skills
Proficiency with MS Office and ability to adapt to new digital tools
Preferred
Engineering or other STEM discipline preferred
Master's degree or MBA preferred
