Responsibilities
Prepares preliminary and final geotechnical reports and geotechnical specifications
Performs complex design and analysis of conventional and non-conventional bridges, retaining structures, reinforced embankments, and slopes
Performs reviews of consultant and in-house prepared projects
Represents SCDOT at conferences and workshops as well as be a part of committees related to geotechnical engineering
Manages geotechnical 'on-call' contracts with limited oversight
Coordinates with the Contracts Office to provide scope of services, fee estimates, consultant evaluations, and other contract documentation
Reviews and interprets Pile Driving Analyzer test data and other foundation load test data
Performs final analysis of deep foundations using load test data
Attends project scoping, design field review, and public meetings as necessary
Performs basic liquefaction analysis
Supervises and trains a Geotechnical Design Team of engineers and engineering associates
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management
Three (3) years of engineering or construction management work experience
An approved acceptable equivalence
A valid motor vehicle operator's license
