Responsibilities

Independently conducts assigned experiments
Performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including but not limited to PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, and Northern and Western analysis
Sorts and processes tissue and blood samples
Tests and evaluates current procedures
Performs research procedures on patient participants in an IRB‑approved study
Records, consolidates, and assists with analysis of research results
Assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
Summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
Prepares research progress reports
Assists the principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts
Conducts library research on requested topics through reviewing current literature
Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities
Assists with training junior research staff, undergraduate, and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
Sets up and operates laboratory equipment
Monitors research supplies, including specimens and inventory, and initiates procurement requests as needed

Required

Bachelor's Degree with 0 years of relevant experience, Associate's Degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or High School Diploma with 4 years of relevant experience
Ability to conduct assigned experiments independently
Experience performing a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including but not limited to PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, and Northern and Western analysis
Ability to sort and process tissue and blood samples
Experience testing and evaluating current procedures
Ability to perform research procedures on patient participants in an IRB-approved study
Ability to record, consolidate, and assist with analysis of research results
Experience assisting in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
Ability to summarize data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
Experience preparing research progress reports
Ability to assist the principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts
Experience conducting library research on requested topics through reviewing current literature
