Correctional Case Manager - Caswell Correctional Center

The N.C. Department of Adult Correction is responsible for the care and supervision of adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. They are seeking a Correctional Case Manager to provide program services to offenders, including assessing behavior, developing counseling strategies, and coordinating rehabilitation programs.

Responsibilities

Assessing offender behavior and developing counseling strategies to achieve desired offender progress
Answering offender questions, giving information about classification and sentencing status, corresponding with offender families, and providing supportive counseling
Organizing and directing the activities of various rehabilitation programs provided for offender
Coordinating community resources, planning and coordinating transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community
Making recommendations to the offender classification committees on an inmate’s program involvement or custody level change
Working with inmates whose problems, needs and comprehension levels vary greatly
Working in all sections of a Medium Custody prison facility which places them in constant contact with offenders
Serving in a custody role during certain activities
Working some evening hours, weekends, and holidays

Required

Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Public Safety; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission
Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments
