Business Development Director

Responsibilities

Identify emerging trends and customer insights in the diagnostic and life science industries
Work with the Business Unit Director to inform capability growth areas and strategic direction for the business
Shape and execute annual business development strategy and long-range planning
Cultivate new and maintain existing customer and partner relationships that drive new business growth
Actively identify, qualify, position for, capture, communicate and pursue commercial opportunities and strategies to build and manage a robust pipeline of pursuits
Research, assess, and communicate new and emerging trends that impact the business
Successfully partner with technical team members to develop and support customer engagement, opportunity assessment, bid/no bid decisions, storyboard and win theme development, application of market and competitor intel, and proposal development
Represent MRIGlobal at conferences, industry days, customer and partner meetings

Required

Minimum of 10 years of related business development experience in related industries
Bachelor's degree in relevant science or business field. Masters preferred
Understanding of the diagnostics industries, including key decision makers, procurement processes, budgets, strategies, partner community
Proven success originating, developing, and submitting competitive proposals and winning new work in the commercial biotech market
Experience analyzing and understanding market drivers, technologies, and customer's mission requirements
Proficiency with Salesforce CRM, MS Office, and standard business tools
Travel up to 50%

Effective communication skills and a demonstrated ability to partner with researchers to prepare and present compelling customer briefings, white papers, and other material
Proactive workstyle with the ability to develop strategies, plans, and get ahead of opportunities and customer capability gaps and requirements
Ability to manage a wide variety of complex tasks and projects simultaneously
Team player with a demonstrated ability to work independently
Has an extensive, existing network of contacts in the life sciences and diagnostics commercial industry
Proven track record of maintaining and growing a strong network of potential clients
Establishes and maintains strategic relationships with key accounts by networking, planning and leading strategic meetings, and driving actions resulting in sales
Understands implications of key financial indicators. Establishes appropriate operating and financial measures to track operating/financial trends and determines appropriate actions
Evaluates market opportunities from the perspective of MRIGlobal's strategy and future growth
Establishes and actively manages multi-year pipeline
Contributes to proposal preparation and development as needed
Develops and presents formalized capture plans
Assists clients in evaluation of options by assessing client's decision criteria and determining competitor's advantages and disadvantages
Understands MRI's and client's organizational structure, operations, decision-making channels, planning processes, and financial budgeting and control systems in order to identify potential problems and opportunities as well as to satisfy the client
Works across Business Units and with the technical teams to capture against leading opportunities
Engages in flexible, problem-solving behavior. Looks at complex problems and identifies the two or three most critical elements
Applies broad and seasoned experience to critical business issues and analyzes problems from both technical and business perspectives
Promotes ideas persuasively; builds networks of colleagues; shapes opinion; and overcomes resistance to new ideas
