New GradHecla Mining Company is seeking a highly motivated Co-op student to join their engineering team at their underground mining operations at Keno Hill. This role involves supporting the design, implementation, and optimization of mining systems while gaining valuable experience in the underground mining industry.

Responsibilities
Assist with the planning, design, and implementation of underground mining projects, including ventilation, ground support, haulage systems, and mining methods
Support daily mining operations with engineering expertise, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
Contribute to the preparation of engineering reports, design documentation, and technical presentations
Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and process optimizations
Participate in site visits, inspections, and surveys to ensure alignment with engineering designs and specifications
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including geotechnical, electrical, and mechanical engineers, to address technical challenges and optimize systems
Assist in troubleshooting and maintenance of engineering systems, proposing corrective actions where needed
Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard mitigation initiatives
Engage in continuous learning, training, and development opportunities to build technical expertise in underground mining engineering practices
Other duties may be assigned

Qualification
Required
Student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering
Strong academic background in mining engineering principles, with particular focus on underground mining operations
Proficiency in computer software and applications, including mining-specific programs
Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office
Strong oral and written communications skills
Be a collaborative team player that works well in multidisciplinary teams
Ability to understand and demonstrate safe work practices
Pre-Employment Testing (drug & alcohol, blood lead, and audiogram)
Valid Class 5 Driver's License
